A Century After the US Entered WWI, Modern-Day Trench Warfare Continues in Ukraine

In the article "A Century After the US Entered World War I, Modern-Day Trench Warfare Continues in Ukraine," the author writes - "The centennial of the U.S. entering World War I this April 6 also marks the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine. One hundred years later, trench warfare isn’t a thing of the past in Europe; and Russia’s military aggression has dimmed the prospects for long-term peace on the Continent."

To us in the West, it appears that Ukraine's national sovereignty was violated by Russia seizing Crimea and invading eastern Ukraine. But to Vladimir Putin and the average Russian, it appears that foreign powers instigated a coup against Ukraine's elected president and were poised to establish military bases in the Black Sea area, which posed an existential threat to Russia's national sovereignty. Perhaps the underlying issue is national sovereignty vs. the liberal notion of universal democracy, more realistically called globalism. 100 years ago today, President Woodrow Wilson brought the U.S. into WWI to "make the world safe for democracy." but some will say "Woodrow Wilson Made the World Unsafe for Democracy," as another article states.
