In the article "Mike Pence: 'We will finally defund Planned Parenthood'," the author states - "This is the second time Pence has addressed the Susan B. Anthony List Gala dinner, it is his first time as Vice President. His first occasion was in 2011. Pence called the day Obamacare passed a 'day of disappointment for the sanctity of life' in America because of its funding of abortion. 'But hope is finally shining through. The bill before the Congress actually eliminates Obamacare’s abortion expansion and it defunds Planned Parenthood.'" Later that day, May 4, the bill to replace Obamacare was passed in the House. This is very personal for me, first because Susan B. Anthony is my great-great aunt, and also because May 4 is my birthday. I've been committed to and involved in the Pro-Life movement for most of my adult life. The U.S. Declaration of Independence states - "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Notice that the Right to Life [← "Like" and "Share" on FaceBook!] is the first and most fundamental, unalienable Right. Among the signers of the Declaration of Independence was Roger Sherman, another of my ancestors. He was in fact the only person to sign all four founding documents of the United States: the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. His descendant, Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman, led Union forces to give Liberty to southern slaves. Susan B. Anthony led the movement for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution guaranteeing women's rights that was finally enshrined in the Nineteenth Amendment.
