In the article "The Embryo Orphanage: A Cautionary Tale," the author writes - "Imagine you are the owner of a real estate firm. You rent out all kinds of buildings for different purposes, and you don’t have any personal ties to the buildings. It’s just business. Then one day a private company rents out one of your larger buildings and decides to use it as an orphanage. They receive some support from donors, and some support from the government. None of that matters to you, because your job is to make sure the pipes work and the roof is repaired...." You get married, your wife gets pregnant and your first baby is born... with a potentially fatal heart defect. The orphanage director learns of this, and offers you a heart transplant from another baby. But then you find out that the "orphanage" is actually harvesting organs from these unwanted children, often killing them in the process. You are tempted to save your "wanted" baby's life at the expense of an anonymous "unwanted" child. But even more, you're horrified at this moral outrage. This is the moral dilemma we must face up to in the matter of "IVF" (In-Vitro-Fertilization), not simply ignore as uninvolved bystanders. Every time an embryo is used for the "Greater Good" of medical research, a real human life is destroyed - not a "blob of tissue" - it's the same kind of cells that our own lives began with. If we believe this is true, we cannot continue to think - "it's not my problem." Do Not Remain Silent! Support Human Life! Read the full article to get the whole story!
