In the video "Charity for the Homeless Refuses Federal Aid, Gets Hundreds Back on Their Feet," Teena Faison says - "We didn’t wake up one day and go, 'Hey, I just want to be homeless with my kids,' No. There’s many, many contributing factors to that – lack of education, lack of resources, addiction." But the crucial factor is that at "34 years old, Faison decided to change her ways and go to Solutions for Change, a nonprofit for homeless families in Vista, California, 45 minutes outside San Diego," the article states. Solutions for Change is a private non-profit organization that requires participants to stay sober and off drugs, receive counseling, learn how to be financially responsible, be good parents, manage their anger, and then look for a job and get on their own two feet. But during the Obama years, these common-sense requirements were considered taboo, so Solutions for Change lost over half a million dollars in federal funding.
