In his article "What Happens when You Replace Shared Humanity with Ethnic Identity," Barry Brownstein writes - "What can go wrong as we move away from an American identity centered around common core beliefs and toward splintered ethnic and racial identities? History provides powerful lessons about societies placing paramount importance on ethnic identities." Then he goes on to describe how, in Nazi Germany and Hungary, Jews were forced to wear armbands with a yellow Star of David and the word "Jude" (Jew) in it. They would be harassed in the streets and eventually rounded up and taken to concentration camps. But similar racial discrimination has existed in many countries, including the U.S. - the 200 years of slavery, the wars against Native Americans, and the internment of Japanese Americans during WW2. Africa has experienced several ethnic-based wars and massacres. Central European countries have seen ethnic cleansings. Russia had its "pogroms" against Jews. Why? There exists a human tendency to form "us" versus "them" groupings based on language, skin color, religion, cultural differences, etc. The author suggests finding unity for Americans "by voluntary assent to commonly held political beliefs." He would locate these beliefs in our founding documents: the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. But now efforts are being made by the Left to foment unrest based on race, religion vesus atheism, poverty versus wealth, gender, sexual orientation, or political party, all the while disparaging our shared political heritage. It should be obvious by now that the Left's goal is to cause a splintering of society so that the Left can pull off a Marxist revolution. This is explained as "Critical Theory" and "Cultural Marxism" - deliberate efforts to criticize almost every aspect of American society and overload the social and governmental systems leading to a complete breakdown of society.
