With a majority in the Senate, why couldn't the GOP get enough votes to replace Obamacare? In his article "Why Democrats Are More Unified Than the GOP," Paul Gottfried writes - "Four conservatives thought the GOP bill on the table went too far in retaining government control over the medical insurance market, while five centrist members complained it doesn’t go far enough in providing federal funding for Medicaid in their states, and would leave 22 million Americans overall without medical insurance." Friedman continues, writing that "the present GOP Congress differs from its Democratic predecessors in a way that hurts them grievously. The Democrats were and are internally unified to a degree that Republicans can’t hope to match. The Democrats passed Obamacare by making sure that every Democrat in the Senate voted for it." As a lifelong student of Communist political theory, I know what lies behind this: Lenin's doctrine of "democratic centralism" that allows Party members to debate and discuss a given policy, but when a decision is made, the debate is over and the entire Party must stick to the Party line. Members who don't toe the Party line are expelled from the Party. In addition to the above example of all Dems voting for Obamacare, now the Democratic Party line is all-in for abortion on demand, and former Pro-LIfe Democrats have been forced to abandon their position or leave the Party, which is now controlled by crypto-Communists. In contrast, the GOP still believes in freedom of thought and action, in limited government, and in social institutions such as churches that are independent of politics. This idea that one should be free to believe and act on one's beliefs without government interference lets Conservatives see life as it can exist outside of politics. The downside of this is a lack of commitment to and cohesion in politics. But to Leftists, everything in life is politics -- it is their entire worldview, it becomes their religion.
