School Choice Now

In the video "School Choice Now," Denisha Merriweather says - "Public schools are not the answer for everyone. They weren't the answer for me." She goes on to tell how she failed 3rd grade TWICE, after that she continued getting D's and F's on her report card, and simply was falling farther and farther behind.

Then she moved in with her grandmother, got into a charter school where they tailored instruction to each student's learning style, and she was challenged to excel, not just go with the flow. She went on to be the first person in her family to graduate from high school... but with honors! From there, she went to college, got a B.A. degree, and then a Master's degree.

No matter how much money we throw at public schools, they often don't provide a real education for our nation's next generation of adults, especially in economically depressed areas. We need to stop just "warehousing kids for 12 years" as the video explains, and provide vouchers for families that want to get their children out of failing schools and into schools that actually provide a quality education.
