Do we really believe what the Lord commanded His disciples to do? He ordered them to preach the Good News of God's Kingdom first to the people of Israel (like the Apostle Paul who first went to the local synagogue in cities he visited) and do the work of ministry –"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers and cast out demons." Don't do it just for the money. Live simply and travel light. Look for people who are receptive to the Good News, ask God's blessing of peace on their homes, and stay with them.
But then comes the "Bad News" – whoever doesn't accept the Good News, shake the dust of their home or city off your feet and tell them that God's coming judgment for them will be worse than what happened to "the land of Sodom and Gomorrah." Does this mean that homosexuality and fornication are OK? No, God had destroyed those cities for their gross immorality and homosexual acts. Actions such as gluttony, drunkenness, homosexuality and fornication might be legal, but they're still immoral. They're really serious sins (see all the cross-references)... but not the worst thing one can do: the very worst thing, Jesus tells us here, is to reject the Good News of salvation! Also, we must "be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves" – beware of those who turn upside-down your motives and actions, who ridicule you, shut you up, ostracize you, beat you, and start legal actions against you for your preaching the Good News.
If we really believe this is what the Lord commanded us, His disciples, here's what we need to do: Believe and Act on It! Sometimes there will be unpleasant consequences for your preaching the Good News and stating the "Bad News." More and more, the world is turning away from God's revealed truth, from the way He has created us and the way we should live. They say everything is relative, there's no absolute truth (except for the statement that everything is relative, there's no absolute truth!) so "you're free as a bird" – do whatever you want.
But if you jump off the top of a tall building, you'll find out pretty quickly that you're not a bird, there are certain laws of nature – such as gravity – that take over. We must speak the truth to a sinful, God-rejecting world... regardless of the consequences. So get this "Believe and Act on It!" PDF and take a clear, firm stand for the Good News!
